About the Derby Arboretum
Derby Arboretum is a public Arboretum and park in the city of Derby.

It was the first publicly owned, landscaped, urban, recreational park in England. The Arboretum was donated to the town in 1840 by Joseph Strutt, a former mayor of Derby and noted philanthropist.

The park was designed by John Claudius Loudon. Loudon's design was of great significance and influential in the design of Central Park, New York. The design was also significant in the development of our British Gardens, we recently had the pleasure of Monty Don coming to visit our park to film for a new series based upon the history of the British Garden.
